Participation

A person’s involvement in a life situation. Represents the societal perspective of functioning (1) Participation restrictions (vA): Problems an individual may experience in involvement in life situations. Determined by comparing an individual’s participation to that which is expected of an individual without disability in that culture or society (1). Participation restrictions (vB): are problems an individual may experience in involvement in life situations (inability to go to work because the office is not accessible to wheelchairs, not being able to join friends for a movie because of a lack of subtitles) (participation level) (2).
