Acute Stress Disorder (ASD)
Acute stress disorder (ASD) is a short-term mental health condition that can occur within the first days after experiencing a traumatic event. Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) is a trauma- and stressor-related disorder that occurs shortly (max 30 days) after exposure to a traumatic event e.g. car accident , involving symptoms that are similar to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) but with a shorter duration. It reflects an acute maladaptive response to extreme stres. The disorder is not included in the ICD classification by WHO.
