Vulnerable Road user (VRU)

Vulnerable road users are a class of road users who are not protected by the safety features inherent in a vehicle’s design. Usually, they include: pedestrians, bicyclists (or pedal cyclists), and motorcyclists (or motorcycled two-wheeler users); elderly people and children as car occupants are for example excluded from this definition.
